About Ramappa Temple
The Ramappa Temple, also known as Ramalingeswara Temple, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site dedicated to Lord Shiva, built during the reign of the Kakatiya king Ganapati Deva under the supervision of his general Recherla Rudra. Renowned for its intricately carved sandstone pillars, black basalt idols, and a distinctive lightweight brick technique used in the tower — light enough that the bricks are said to float on water — the temple stands as a masterpiece of Kakatiya architecture near Medaram.
